Newsbin Pro - Windows

Newsbin Pro is a powerful newsreader for Windows that supports NZB automation and advanced filtering. This guide walks you through how to configure Newsbin Pro to access Eweka's high-speed, high-retention Usenet service.

Step 1: Newsbin Pro Purchase and Trial

Newsbin Pro is a paid application. A standard license costs $20 USD. If you want access to its built-in Usenet search engine, the price is $30 USD. A 15-day free trial is available upon request from the Newsbin website. You will have the option to purchase or request a trial during the installation process, or you can through the website.

Visit the official Newsbin website and download the Windows installer.

Step 2: Install Newsbin Pro

During installation, you will be prompted to configure your server settings. Enter the following when prompted:

  • Server Name: Enter a name for your server. We suggest using "Eweka".

  • Server Address: news.eweka.nl

  • SSL: Check the box to enable SSL.

  • Username and Password: Enter your Eweka credentials.

Step 3: Set Maximum Connections (optional)

Eweka allows up to 50 simultaneous connections. After setup is complete, go to Options > Servers in Newsbin and set the maximum number of connections to 50 or fewer.

Step 4: Configure Group List and Refresh Options

After Newsbin Pro has finished installation and launched, click the "Download the Latest Group Updates" button to load Eweka's full list of available newsgroups.

Step 5: Finish Setup and Start Using Usenet

Once your server settings are configured and your group list downloaded, the setup process will be complete. You can now access Usenet newsgroups through the Newsbin interface.
