Defining Storage Paths in SABnzbd

With SABnzbd, you have direct control over where different stages of article handling take place. Assign specific folders to keep your Usenet workflow organized and efficient.

Key Directory Assignments

  • Completed Folder: This is the final stop for processed articles. You can point this to any location you prefer.

  • Temporary Folder: Active article sets are held here while in process.

  • Watched Folder: Drop NZBs into this folder to trigger automatic processing.

How to Set Folder Paths

From the SABnzbd dashboard, go to Config > Folders and enter full directory paths. Use absolute references to avoid misrouting.

Platform-Specific Examples

  • Windows: C:\Users\YourName\Documents\SABnzbd\Completed

  • macOS/Linux: /home/yourname/sabnzbd/completed

Extra Directories to Consider

  • Admin: Stores queue and historical processing data.

  • Logs: Useful for reviewing activity and troubleshooting.

Understanding Article Retention

The displayed value in SABnzbd is informational. Actual article availability depends on your provider. Eweka maintains a high article retention window, giving broad access to older Usenet articles.

PAR2 File Handling and Repair Logic

SABnzbd uses QuickCheck to evaluate articles. If issues are found, only the required PAR2 recovery blocks are pulled unless configured otherwise. To adjust, visit Settings > Switches > Post Processing and enable Download all PAR2 files.

Available Processing Modes

  • (Blank): No follow-up actions.

  • R: Run repair.

  • U: Repair and unpack.

  • D: Repair, unpack, and delete temporary archives.

Fixing a Repair Hang

If processing halts during a repair:

  1. Open your system’s task monitor.

  2. Look for a process named par2.

  3. Force it to close. The job will be marked failed. You can then manually review or retry it.
