SABnzbd Compatibility with Different Operating Systems

SABnzbd requires an operating system that supports Python 3.8 or higher, pip, and specific supporting tools:

  • Python 3.8 or newer, plus pip

  • Cheetah Python library (installable via pip)

  • par2 and unrar tools

  • yEnc library (optional)

Eweka users running SABnzbd outside of Windows or macOS may need to consult the community for compatible packages or compile the software manually. Installation on NAS platforms often requires additional configuration steps.

Systems with minimal memory—less than 256MB and no swap—will typically encounter issues, particularly under heavy Internet usage or when processing large volumes of Usenet articles.

Because Python is unavailable on Android, SABnzbd is not functional on that platform.
