Resolving Port 119 Restrictions on Your Network

Some Internet providers or local network administrators may block Port 119, which is commonly used for standard Usenet access. Fortunately, Eweka supports multiple connection ports so users can stay connected even when restrictions exist.

Use one of the following alternative ports:

  • Non-SSL: 80, 81, 8000

  • SSL: 443, 563, 8080

Open your newsreader’s configuration panel and choose the appropriate port based on your preference for encrypted or non-encrypted communication.

SSL ports offer an added layer of security and are often unblocked on networks that restrict traditional Usenet access.
