How to Set Up Newsleecher for Eweka on Windows

Follow these instructions to configure Newsleecher for use with Eweka's Usenet service on a Windows system.

Step 1: Install Newsleecher

If you haven't already, visit the official Newsleecher website and install the latest version of the newsreader for Windows.

Step 2: Launch Newsleecher and Add Eweka as a Server

  1. Open Newsleecher.

  2. Go to the Manager tab.

  3. Click the Servers tab.

  4. Select Add Server.

Step 3: Enter Server Details

Fill out the following fields:

  • Server Address: news.eweka.nl

  • Port: 563 (for SSL)

  • Use SSL: Yes (check the box)

  • Connections: Up to 20

  • Server Nickname: (Optional, e.g., "Eweka")

Step 4: Enter Login Credentials

Enter your Eweka username and password. These details were provided in your welcome email after signing up.

Step 5: Enable Server

Make sure the server is enabled by checking the box next to it in the server list.

Step 6: Test the Connection

To confirm everything is working:

  1. Go to the Manager tab.

  2. Click the Connect button.

  3. If the connection is successful, you’ll be connected to Eweka’s Usenet network.

Additional Tips

  • Eweka offers very high article retention. Make sure your search settings are configured to take full advantage.

  • Consider pairing Newsleecher with a Usenet Indexer for easy search access.

  • Always keep your Newsleecher installation updated for best results.
