Releasing a Credit Card Pre-Authorization Hold
Understanding Credit Card and Debit Card Pre-Authorizations
When you start a subscription with Eweka, your bank may place a temporary pre-authorization hold on your credit or debit card. This hold is not a charge. It is used by your financial institution to confirm that funds are available for the transaction.
The amount held will appear in your online banking summary as pending, but it will not be collected by Eweka unless the transaction is finalized.
Why Do Pre-Authorization Holds Happen?
This process is standard across many online services. It allows banks to verify the payment method before finalizing a transaction. The amount typically matches the price of the subscription you selected.
Can Eweka Release the Hold?
Eweka does not have the ability to release pre-authorization holds. These are managed directly by your bank or card issuer. In most cases, the hold will automatically expire within a few business days, depending on your bank's policies.
What Should You Do If the Hold Persists?
If the hold remains on your account after several days, contact your bank or credit card provider directly. They have full control over releasing the hold and providing more details about the expected timeframe.
