SABnzbd False Positives and Antivirus Detection

Immediately after a new SABnzbd release, certain antivirus tools may incorrectly flag it as malicious. These warnings are false positives.

Common Causes

SABnzbd’s design can trigger antivirus alarms:

  • Compression and executable packaging

  • Network activity and listening ports

  • Integration of multiple background tools

Antivirus tools use automated systems that often misread new builds of SABnzbd.

Recommended Action

If Eweka users run into this issue:

  1. Make sure your antivirus is up to date.

  2. Check the quarantine log and restore SABnzbd.

  3. Reinstall SABnzbd if anything is missing.

Run the installer through VirusTotal.com to compare against many scanners and confirm the false positive.

These alerts usually clear up within a couple of weeks.
