Troubleshooting "Repair Failed" Errors on Eweka

Decoding the Repair Error

The message "repair failed, not enough repair blocks" signals that an article retrieved through Eweka couldn’t be reconstructed due to missing or incomplete data.

Leading Causes

  • Exceeded Article Retention If the post is older than Eweka’s article retention capacity, parts or all of it may be missing from the server.
  • Partial Article Availability Some articles are only partially stored on Usenet due to removals or propagation gaps, which affects repair success.
  • Insufficient PAR2 Repair Blocks Without a complete set of PAR2 repair blocks, the newsreader can’t recover the full article.
  • Incomplete NZB Files When the NZB doesn’t include references to PAR2s, repair operations won’t initiate.
  • Unrecognized Naming Structure Nonstandard naming conventions may cause your newsreader to miss the link between archive parts and their repair counterparts.

What You Can Do

  • Supplement your setup with another Usenet provider

  • Look for an alternate version of the post with better completeness
